First links course in the Baltic region opens for play

The grand opening of a new golf course in Estonia has recently taken place.

Pärnu Bay Golf Links has been designed by golf course architect Lassi Pekka Tilander. The course opened for play earlier this month, and an opening ceremony took place last weekend.

Located near the village of Tahkuranna in the south of the country, the course lies on the shores of the Gulf of Riga, approximately 10km south of the city of Pärnu.

The first links course in the Baltic region, the Pärnu Bay course has been constructed by Nelson & Vecchio. The company hired Mick McShane as the course’s lead shaper. McShane has previously worked in the same capacity at St. Andrews Links’ Castle Course and Kingsbarns Golf Links.

As well as the 6,200 metre 18-hole course, Pärnu Bay is also home to a five-hole par-three course
