First Secret Valley course to open

A new 18-hole golf course at Secret Valley, part of the Venus Rock Resort development in Cyprus, is set to open soon.

The Venus Rock project, which will include two golf courses, a five-star hotel, two community sports centres, a commercial and leisure component, as well as luxury private homes, aims to become one of Europe’s largest luxury beach-front residential developments.

The banking crisis in Cyprus had put the project in jeopardy, but a recent deal has been negotiated between the initial investors Dolphin Capital Investors, comprised of the Aristo Developers and Venus Rock Estates subsidiaries, and China Glory National Investment, to allow construction to continue.

While the first course is entering the final construction phase, plans for the second course have now been finalised and are ready for tender. Both courses, which will replace the existing Secret Valley course, have been designed by Golf & Land Design’s Hans-Georg Erhardt and Snorri Vilhjalmsson and will be branded as Tony Jacklin signature designs.

An existing clubhouse will serve the first new course, and a brand new luxury clubhouse will be built to serve the other. Other features of the project include a floodlight 3-hole loop designed for evening play, which will be located at the lower end of the courses where the beach development and the courses meet.

A soft opening of the first course is expected to take place later this summer, with a grand opening scheduled for September. Construction of the second course is set to begin next spring.
