Fjällman named EIGCA president

Peter Fjällman will be the new president of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA).

His appointment came at the EIGCA AGM in Malmö, Sweden, and Fjällman will replace Rainer Preissmann in the role.

With 30 years experience in the golf industry, Fjällman previously worked as a manager at several clubs in Sweden, before starting a design practice in 2000. Fjällman graduated with a distinction after completing the EIGCA’s Professional Diploma Course, and will be the first former student to take on the mantel of president.

Fjällman previously held the post of honorary treasurer, and expressed his pleasure at taking on the presidency at the President’s Dinner at the event in Malmö.

“I am very proud and honoured to be elected president of the EIGCA,” said Fjällman. “Since the Institute was founded in 2000 we have become an internationally recognised organisation and my objective is to strengthen this position further. Our professional development program ‘Raising the Standard of Sustainable Golf Course Development’, which was launched this week in Malmö, is a vital part of this ambition and the EIGCA’s priority will be to provide further opportunities for our members to gain competitive advantages through education and learning.”

“Becoming president is both inspiring and challenging but I am looking forward to working with our council and wonderful staff over the next two years and to continuing the work of my predecessors,” concluded Fjällman
