Florida’s Blue Cypress adds three holes to become a 12-hole facility
Blue Cypress Golf Course in Jacksonville, Florida, has become a 12-hole facility following the opening of three new holes designed by golf architect Michael Beebe, the City of Jacksonville and Troon.
Blue Cypress has named the original nine holes as ‘Big Blue’, the new three-hole loop as ‘Little Blue’ and the full 12-hole layout as ‘The Dozen’. Children aged 17 and under can play Little Blue for free when accompanied by a paying adult or Big Blue or The Dozen for $10.
The public facility began construction in May 2024 with the three holes playing between 55 and 125 yards depending on which tee is used.
Little Blue will host junior programmes as well as other ‘grow the game’ initiatives. The First Tee of North Florida will also expand programming at Blue Cypress, making use of Little Blue’s beginner-friendly layout.
Owned by the City of Jacksonville and managed by Indigo Sports, a division of Troon, Blue Cypress originally opened in the 1960s and has operated under various names over the years. In 2020, Blue Cypress reopened under Indigo Sports management after undergoing a renovation. The original nine is a par 36 and the practice facility includes a 3,500 square-foot short game practice green and a 330-yard practice range.
