Golf course forms part of proposed new retirement village in Queensland

A new 18-course golf course forms part of plans for a new retirement village in Queensland, Australia.

Proposals for the Boyneglade Development were submitted to Gladstone Regional Council in early February. Plans include an 18-hole golf course designed by Graham Marsh Golf Designs.

The 260-hectare proposed site for the development is to the east of Benaraby, a small town south of Gladstone on the Queensland coast. The largest major city is Brisbane, approximately 500km south of Benaraby.

Plans for the development indicate that the course will be a ‘core’ design, set largely away from the residential lots, with only the first two holes and the eighteenth flanked on one side by housing. The majority of the course would occupy the site’s western half, away from the retirement village to the east.

A driving range, practice putting green, short game area and clubhouse also feature in the plans.

The proposed course would be an amenity for residents of the 460 housing units within the “active lifestyle resort”, and is also expected to be open to the public.

The project is the brainchild of the Mann family, who own the land on which the proposed village would be built.
