GOOD READ: Experience the Old Course
GCA contributor Richard Goodale has produced a second in OptimizeGolf's series of upmarket course companions, to go with his earlier volume on Royal Dornoch (a third, on Carnoustie, is in production). Combining history, architecture and playing advice with computerenhanced photography, Experience the Old Course is designed to improve a visitor's trip round the sacred links by showing the hidden hazards in clear view.
One of the real problems with photographing courses such as St Andrews is the simple fact that ground undulations do not reproduce well in two dimensional photography. Goodale and his team seem to have found a way round this, and the result is impressive – the apparently unprepossessing links that has seemed so impenetrable to many first time visitors is rendered in its full humpy and bumpy glory.
