Grande Dunes to reopen next month following Harvey renovation

Grande Dunes Resort Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is reopening on 15 September following a four-month renovation by John Harvey.

Harvey has restored greens to their original size, reclaiming nearly 40,000 square feet of putting surface, and regrassed them with TifEagle ultradwarf bermuda. Harvey’s team is continuing to look after the grow-in ahead of the reopening next month.

Work on bunkers included coring out the floors and installing bunker liner from Capillary Concrete.

“We are delighted with the progress in all three phases of the Grande Dunes renovation,” said Founders Group International president Steve Mays. “We allowed four months for the completion of the project, ensuring the course will be in spectacular condition from the moment we welcome players back. As we enter the home stretch and you see the grass growing on the greens and the work being done on the bunkers, it only heightens our anticipation. I can’t wait to play the course again, and hopefully the golfers who flock to the area this fall feel the same way.”

In addition to work on the course, Grande Dunes has also renovated its clubhouse and expanded its outdoor seating areas.
