Greg Norman’s firm hired for new project in Belize

Greg Norman Golf Course Design has been hired for a new project in the Central American nation of Belize.

The project will take place on Caye Chapel Island, which lies 18 kilometres from Belize City in the Caribbean. The island is currently home to an 18-hole, developed by Kentucky coal millionaire Larry Addington.

“Caye Chapel is an extraordinary destination and I am thrilled to be part of the resort’s long-term vision and development,” said Norman. “I take serious the sensitivity of designing a golf course and its effect on the eco-system. I will work in concert with the development team to create a course that is environmentally sound while providing a playable and memorable experience for all golfers.”

The course will form part of a new resort being developed by two prominent Mexican developers – Thor Urbana Capital and Inmobilia. The resort will also be home to a luxury hotel, a private landing strip, marina, and a commercial shopping centre.

More details on the project are expected in due course.
