Irrigation upgrades for Dutch courses

Following its work at the Rosendaelsche and Toxandria golf clubs, independent consulting engineers and golf irrigation specialist Irriplan is busy again in the Netherlands.

This autumn, the first expects to start the installation of a new irrigation system for greens, surrounds, tees, approaches and fairways at Eindhovensche Golf, where Irriplan was asked to design an efficient  and uniform irrigation system that would deliver a fast, firm playing surface. “The new irrigation system features part-circle sprinklers on the perimeter of all playing surfaces; this will reduce water consumption by 30 per cent compared to the existing system and will eliminate coverage into the wooded and rough areas helping to preserve the character of the Harry Colt designed, heathland-style course,” said Irriplan’s Giles Wardle.

At Hilversumsche, venue for the 2010 Dutch Open, the new mainline and greens sprinklers system is now complete and forms part of the Irriplan-designed phased upgrade and replacement of the irrigation system. “At the nearby Anderstein Golf Club work is underway, after a late start due to the inclement weather, of the addition of fairway irrigation that was designed by Irriplan to be added to the existing system with modifications to the existing pipe network and control system,” said Wardle.
