King Collins Dormer hired to design 14-hole course at Kohler

Kohler in Wisconsin has appointed King Collins Dormer Golf Course Design to design Purebred Farm, a new 14-hole golf course.

The golf offering at Kohler already includes four 18-hole courses: Straits, Irish, River and Meadow Valleys, and the 10-hole par-three Baths at Blackwolf Run layout. These are split across two locations – the Whistling Straits complex (Straits and Irish) and Blackwolf Run (River, Meadow Valleys and the Baths). The site for the new course is west of the Blackwolf Run courses.

The 14-hole layout will extend to around 4,900 yards and will be a walking-only. Purebred Farm will be built over prairie, farmland and river valleys while avoiding existing wetlands. The design firm say their plans have taken inspiration from Golden Age golf course architecture.

“This next chapter in Kohler’s evolution reflects our ongoing commitment to creating dynamic, memorable experiences for our guests,” said hospitality president Stephen Beaumont. “With the construction of Purebred Farm golf course and The Serve, and the renovation of The Carriage House, we’re introducing spaces for guests and local residents that integrate wellness, community and connection, while honouring our resort’s rich legacy of craftsmanship, innovation and hospitality.”

Dirk Willis, vice president of golf, landscape and retail for Kohler Hospitality, said: “Kohler is committed to expanding access to more individuals at all skill levels. Our golf business continues to steadily grow, and this new experience will offer an exciting and dynamic way to enjoy the game.”

Construction is expected to begin in autumn 2025 with an opening planned for autumn 2027.
