Laguna Golf Bintan course to reopen following renovation work

The course at Laguna Golf Bintan resort in Indonesia will reopen next month following renovation project.

Originally designed by Greg Norman’s firm, the 18-hole course has been reworked by Mark Lawson of Pro Links Construction. Lawson worked as an independent consultant, shaper and project manager, and has vast experience of working with Jansen Golf Design and Construction.

The course plays 6,890 yards off the back tees, with a number of holes playing along the shores of the South China Sea.

Lawson worked alongside a team from the resort, which included Paul Wilson, group director of golf for Laguna Golf.

“The layout of our course in Laguna Bintan is remarkably strong in terms of design and playability,” said Wilson. “Our main focus of this project has been restoring the green complexes to their original size and structure while giving emphasis to the enhancement of the natural surroundings such as highlighting the beachfront, and accentuating the natural rock formations and dense jungle.”

The renovated course will reopen in July 2016.
