New holes introduced at Hyderabad Golf Club course

New holes introduced at Hyderabad Golf Club course

A major project at Hyderabad Golf Club near Hyderabad, India, has been completed.

The recent work has been led by Nandan Heblikar of the Golf designs group, and forms part of a greater masterplan for the course which was created by James Edwards of the Edwards Design International firm.

Before the project, the course played just 4,525 yards, was a par 66, and had only 16 greens. This meant two holes had to be played twice to complete an 18-hole round.

Four completely new holes have been built as part of the recent project following the acquisition of more land at the site. Whereas previously there wasn’t a par five hole on the course, Hyderabad Golf Club now boasts three, as well as an additional par three hole.

In addition, some existing holes were rerouted, and the number of bunkers across the course has been doubled.

New tee boxes were also introduced, which has lengthened many holes.

The now 18-hole, 6057 yard course first opened in 1992 and the original layout was designed by David Hemstock.

The course is set among the city’s Golconda Fort Complex and is owned by the Hyderabad Golf Association.
