Planning application for Coul Links set to be submitted in coming weeks

Official plans for a new golf course on the east coast of Scotland are set to be submitted soon, according to reports.

The Press and Journal is reporting that businessman Todd Warnock and Mike Keiser, the man behind Bandon Dunes and Sand Valley in the US, are set to submit a planning application for their Coul Links project soon.

Golf course architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw have been penciled in for the project, which if approved, would be built on a genuine links site north of the town of Embo in the Highlands region of Scotland.

Todd Warnock is the owner of the Links House hotel and Carnegie Courthouse in Dornoch, which is located about two miles from the proposed site.

Whether the project will ultimately get the green light however is very much up in the air. A number of organisations, including RSPB Scotland and Butterfly Conservation, have given presentations on the importance of the dunes at Coul Links from an ecological perspective. This is likely to affect the decision about whether the proposed golf course ultimately comes to fruition.
