Plans submitted for new Hogans Gully course on New Zealand’s South Island
Plans for a new multi-million dollar golf resort on New Zealand’s South Island have been submitted, according to reports.
The Hogans Gully golf course would be built on a 132-hectare plot of land near Arrowtown, according to an article from Mountain Scene.
Hogans Gully Farm Ltd – the company behind the project – has applied for resource consent for the course, a clubhouse, practice facilitys and 96 residential lots.
Greg Turner, a former pro golfer, has worked with Baxter Design Group to draw up the course’s design. Turner has recently been involved with the development of nine new holes at the nearby Millbrook Resort, and previously helped redesign the course at Royal Wellington.
According to the report, Turner has been working on the plans for this course since 2007, and says that the design he has settled on will be suitable for all types of golfer, with little long grass making it easier for shorter hitters.
If all goes ahead as planned, the course could open for play as soon as 2021.
Hogan’s Gully is located in a part of New Zealand that has seen an influx in golf-related tourism and investment in recent years. As well as the nearby Millbrook Resort, a new 18-hole golf course and property development has been earmarked for creation on a site beside the Highlands Motorsport Park near the town of Cromwell. Brett Thomson of RBT Golf Design has been hired to design this course.
