Rengstorf rejuvenates Gut Glinde

German architect Holger Rengstorf has completed an expansion project at the Golf Gut Glinde course at Schwerin in the north of the country.

"The green complexes, surrounding bunkers and the other neighbouring elements such as water, hills and mounds, are frequently neglected," said Rengstorf. "Yet this is precisely where the golfer spends most of his time and requires the most strokes. The greens play a central role in the entire game and therefore deserve particular attention. In addition, it is possible to increase the level of difficulty for better players here."

Following the completion of the extensions to the main course, including the transportation of 140,000 cu m of soil, the course now has 69 bunkers measuring between 40-1,000 sq m. A water hazard measuring around 4,600 sq m has been constructed near the eighteenth hole.
