Renovation and restoration work being carried out at Port Ludlow
A series of renovations are being carried out on the course at the Port Ludlow Golf Club in Port Ludlow, Washington.
The course’s greens are being reworked to bring them back to their original design, while fairways are also being reshaped using a sand and seed programme.
Drainage issues have plagued the course in recent times, so ditches and streams on the course’s edge are being reestablished to help improve the situation. Furthermore, culverts have been replaced to improve water flow, helping to ensure the course remains playable throughout the year.
A wireless irrigation system has been introduced to allow sprinkler heads to be controlled remotely.
The project is being led by the club’s superintendent Dick Schmidt, who worked alongside Robert Muir Graves, the course’s original designer, when Port Ludlow was first being developed.
