Renovation work complete on second nine at Pleasant Valley CC

Renovation work has now been completed on the second nine of 27 holes at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock, Arkansas, US.

As part of a master plan developed by Bobby Weed Golf Design in 2011, the first nine holes were renovated in 2014-15, and work on the second nine holes has now also been completed.

The project includes drainage improvement, tree removal and re-grassing of perimeter rough. Bobby Weed and his design partner Chris Monti have also rehabilitated a number of open water channels, adding river rock lining to enhance aesthetics and improve the conveyance of storm water. Bunkers have been rebuilt and repositioned to improve appearance and strategy.

“The renovation will enhance this distinctive course with changes that will entice players as they employ thoughtful strategy on each hole,” said Weed. “The renovation will amplify the course’s exceptional aesthetic appeal.

Work on the third nine holes, plus an overhaul of the irrigation system for all 27 holes, will begin in Fall 2016, with the entire project expected to be completed by Spring 2017. There are also plans for some redesign work on the practice facility, including expanding the teeing area and improving the definition of targets.

This project represents the first significant design work on the course since it originally opened in 1968. It was designed by Joe Finger, with touring professionals Jimmy Demaret and Byron Nelson as consultants.
