Renovations coming to Chickasaw Country Club course in Tennessee

Architect Bill Bergin is to renovate the golf course at Chickasaw Country Club in Memphis, Tennessee.

Originally designed by William Langford in 1921, the course at Chickasaw has undergone a number of changes over the years, most notably on the greens and bunkers.

Bergin is aiming to restore the course’s classic appearance and strategic intent. The architect is using an aerial photograph of the course taken around 1922 to shape his approach, as well as research into other courses Langford worked on, such as those at Lawsonia Links in Wisconsin and Skokie Country Club in Illinois.

A number of trees will be removed from the course to widen fairways, while greens and bunkers will be restored and updated using modern construction techniques.

An in-course practice range and short game area is also being developed.

The course is set to reopen in September 2018.
