Renovations nearing completion at Brookwater G&CC course
A series of renovations to the course at Brookwater Golf & Country Club in Greater Springfield, Australia, are nearing completion.
A Greg Norman Golf Course Design project led by associate Ryan van der Veen, the work includes the refreshing and resurfacing of all 18 greens.
Some of the greens have been redesigned to help eradicate a natural build up of thatch and subsoil. Some contours have also been softened, while a number of greens have been restored to their original size.
Much of the work has focused on six specific greens, including those on the first, tenth and thirteenth hole, the latter of which is regarded as the course’s signature hole. On these holes, the surface area has been expanded to provide additional pin placement options and improved agronomy and surface conditions.
A vegetation management program has also seen the eradication of overgrown foliage around the course and in waterways, while a number of playing corridors have been widened.
The course at Brookwater G&CC was originally designed by a team from Greg Norman’s firm, and lies about 30 minutes from central Brisbane.
Of the recent work, Norman commented: “During this process we considered the playability, agronomy, golf strategy, and maintenance practices, and are confident the end result will appeal to the members and future hotel guests alike. Since the club’s inception in 2002, the golf industry has evolved significantly in Australia and these updates will help better position the course in the market place and make it more sustainable for the future.”
