Silvies Valley Ranch starts work on new putting course

Silvies Valley Ranch in Oregon has started building a new 18-hole putting course. The design has been created by Dan Hixson, who also laid out the resort’s reversible 18-hole course and two short courses.

“Silvies Valley Ranch is known for its commitment to sustainability and letting the natural beauty and unique terrain of the Oregon frontier serve as the blueprint for each new development on the property,” said Hixson. “I knew that the design for this special putting course would have to measure up to that Silvies Valley standard, which is something that players from all over have come to expect here at the ranch.”

The putting course will be located along one side of a lake that fronts the resort’s lodge and log cabins, and will be contoured with plateau, valley and shelf areas.

It will join the resort’s reversible 18-hole course – which can be played as either the Hankins or Craddock arrangement, the seven-hole McVeigh’s Gauntlet layout, and the nine-hole par-three course, Chief Egan.

“Guests from all over and all levels of play continue to be blown away by our course offerings here at Silvies, which is why we are committed to the continuous expansion and improvement of our golf offerings,” said golf course superintendent Sean Hoolehan. “This state-of-the-art putting course will be the perfect complement to our current golf facilities, and we cannot wait for our guests to experience it.”

The putting course is expected to open in mid-June 2021 and will be free to Silvies Valley Ranch guests and golfers who have paid a green fee for one of the resort’s four other courses.
