Three new holes to be added to short course at Golfpark Oberkirch
Permission has been granted to extend the six-hole short course at Golfpark Oberkirch in central Switzerland to nine holes.
The Municipality of Oberkirch has given the green light to convert an area of agricultural land close to the course into a sports and leisure facility.
Steiner & Partner Landschaftsarchitektur, a Swiss-based golf course architecture firm, has been brought in to draw up the plans for the new holes.
Golfpark Oberkirch is one of eight public golf facilities in Switzerland developed by Migros, one of the largest Swiss supermarket chains. These facilities range from pitch and putt to full 18-hole courses, and the extension of the course at Golfpark Oberkirch furthers Migros’ aim to help make ‘Golf for Everyone’ in Switzerland.
“This re-zoning success is rare but encouraging for the future of golf in Switzerland,” commented Erich Steiner, the architect leading the project.
