Toro helps introduce new drainage and irrigation system at Le Golf National
Le Golf National – the host venue for the 2018 Ryder Cup – is to receive a completely new drainage and irrigation system featuring products from Toro.
Located around 25km from Paris, France, Le Golf National consists of three courses – Albatross, Eagle and Birdie – and a dedicated training area.
“With this project, Golf National is putting a system in place to address the challenge of water conservation well into the future – a challenge of critical importance worldwide,” said Andrew Brown, corporate accounts manager at The Toro Company. “It sets a new standard for excellence and sustainability in the golf community.”
The team at Le Golf National recently decided to upgrade its irrigation system to help save water and produce better long-term results.
“Irrigation management is key to keep golf surfaces looking and playing their best,” said Paul Armitage, director of Le Golf National. “We were looking for a system that would give us more control and more flexibility while also allowing us to save water. Toro provided a solution that does exactly what we need it to do.”
The club’s Albatross course is highly regarded and hosted the 2015 French Open from 2-5 July.
A new irrigation system is being installed on the Albatross course, including a new pump station provided by local distributor Solvert.
The new system will include Toro’s Lynx Central Control, Infinity sprinkler heads, and Turf Guard wireless soil monitoring sensors.
The components of the system will work together to provide greenkeepers with precise control over watering schedules. Also, with extensive soil and water usage data, staff at Le Golf National will be able to make better-informed decisions about the work they do on the course.
“It took some time to finalise a design that fit into the budget, but with Toro products we were able to create an efficient system that meets our specific needs,” said Pascal Grizot, chairman of Ryder Cup France 2018. “Toro’s leading irrigation technology gets the job done well and will also help save us money in the long run.”
Plans are also in place to replace the sprinkler system on the greens of the club’s Eagle Course.
Work will begin immediately and is scheduled to be completed before the club hosts the next French Open in 2017.
