Tripp Davis begins renovation at BraeBurn Country Club

Tripp Davis has started a renovation of the golf course at BraeBurn Country Club in Houston, Texas.

The layout was originally designed by John Bredemus in 1931. In 1991, work completed to address flooding issues on the course added significant elevation change, unusual to the Houston area.

“I have always wanted to be a part of a great project in Houston – a very golf rich area,” said Davis. “I am excited to finally be on the ground getting work going and I can’t wait to get the membership back on the new course this fall.”

Davis’s shaper Jason Gold (pictured) has started work on the project, which involves rebuilding all greens and tees, repositioning and renovating bunkers to a classic style, and making better use of the elevation created during the 1991 project.

A new irrigation system will also be installed, old turf will be replaced with NorthBridge bermuda, the drainage system will be upgraded to improve playing conditions in the winter months, and the practice facilities will be renovated.

“This golf course redesign and construction project is a fantastic way for BraeBurn and its members to celebrate our ninetieth anniversary,” said club general manager Dan Olson. “Tripp has created a timeless design built on a vision that will sustain interest, character and challenging yet friendly golf for all levels of play.

“In addition, Tripp aided the club in assembling world class construction teams to execute these plans. We could not be more excited about our project and what this means to this property, our membership and the next chapter in the beautiful story of BraeBurn Country Club.”
