Two new openings for Harbottle

Seattle-based architect John Harbottle has had a busy summer with two major openings.

In late August, Palouse Ridge Golf Club, Harbottle's new course for Washington State University opened its doors to public play. "The course stretches to over 7,300 yards from the tips, and is on 300 acres of natural, undulating prairie terrain, with beautiful views of the Palouse region," said Harbottle, who hopes the course will come to be regarded as one of collegiate America's top courses. "It was built with the intent to host Pac 10 and NCAA championships" he continued.

Alongside signature designer Johnny Miller, Harbottle has also opened the Timlick Tahoe course in Nevada.

Located between the North Star and Squaw Valley ski resorts, the 7,000 yard course winds through the high mountain terrain, cutting through pine forest, accented by water features, desert sage and natural rock outcroppings.

Harbottle reckons the small greens, chipping areas and muscular sand bunkers give the course something of a Golden Age feel.
