Upgrades to be made to Wentworth’s East, West and Edinburgh courses

A series of upgrades will be made to the three golf courses at Wentworth Club next year.

Located on the outskirts of London, UK, the club is home to two Harry Colt-designed courses – the East and West Courses – as well as the John Jacobs-designed Edinburgh Course and a nine hole executive course.

The club has announced that major renovations will be carried out in 2016 on the West Course, in a project that is taking place in association with Ernie Els Design.

Els’s firm led a major project on the West Course back in 2009, with work completed ahead of the 2010 BMW PGA Championships. Further work was carried out after the tournament, with the firm again involved.

Work will also be carried out to restore the club’s East Course to its original Colt design, while renovations will also take place on the Edinburgh Course.

Wentworth Club was taken over last year by Beijing-based Reignwood Investments. Renovation work will also be carried out on Wentworth’s clubhouse and tennis and health club facilities.

“All of the improvements will ensure a club of exceptional quality and will set unparalleled standards on and off the course,” said Stephen Gibson, the club’s chief executive. “We are committed to investing significant sums to fulfil our vision and improve the facilities throughout the club.”
