Wadi Safar is part of the Diriyah Gate development, a US$50 billion megaproject located on the outskirts of the country’s capital, Riyadh. We spoke with Norman to find out how the course is progressing. What stage is the project at and when is completion expected? I travelled to Riyadh to make a site visit in 2019 and we began designing the course that same year. We started construction in 2020 and spent the next year or so completing bulk earthworks. We’ve spent the majority of 2022 getting the final shaping of the holes dialled in and installing irrigation, cart paths and sandcapping. We also recently completed the irrigation lake, so TEE BOX THE INTERVIEW with Greg Norman Photo: Greg Norman Golf Course Design Photo: Greg Norman Golf Course Design
