80 PUREBRED FARM GC for him – a 14-hole routing. “I did a couple of different routing studies, and 14 holes came out the best,” he explains. “I sent it to Dirk, he loved it, David and Nina loved it, so we went with it.” Construction began towards the end of the 2025 season – “we roughed in a few holes last September/October,” says Collins – and then started in earnest as spring sprang this year. In honour of the property’s heritage, the course will be known as Purebred Farm. When GCA visited in August 2026, the course was close to completion of shaping, and grassing was about to begin. The Kohler team plans to operate the course from a small building which will be adjacent to Blackwolf Run’s Meadow Valleys course; the main clubhouse will remain the large one at that facility, and shuttles will operate between the two. It’s always hard to make judgements on courses that are nowhere near opening, but it seemed to me that Purebred Farm will be fairly restrained by King Collins Dormer standards, at least in construction terms.
