Golf Course Architecture - Green Pages 2021

1 WELCOME A new year W e couldn’t possibly have anticipated the year that has passed since my last introduction to GCA Green Pages . 2020 will forever be remembered for the devastation of the Covid-19 pandemic. There has been loss of life and livelihoods close to everyone’s home, and it has turned businesses of all types upside down. Golf has certainly not been immune to those impacts, but it is one of few pursuits where the cloud has some degree of silver lining. Not only have golf businesses largely been able to continue to operate for much of the year, but the pandemic seems to have also brought our appreciation of golf into focus, with reports of full tee sheets and waiting lists for membership. To capitalise on this interest and ensure this resurgence is sustained, many clubs are considering how they can improve their courses. The businesses listed in our supplier directory section of this 2021 issue of GCA Green Pages are specialists in golf course design, development, maintenance and related disciplines, and can support your plans for the future. Inspiration may come from the articles on the following pages, reporting on projects have continued during the pandemic. We take you around the globe, from Castle Hill CC in Australia to Regnum Golf & Country Club Ankara in Turkey, then Torrey Pines in the USA to Stratford-on-Avon Golf Club in England, and Fasano Las Piedra in Uruguay to Royal Troon in Scotland. I hope you find this guide an informative and valuable resource, and good luck with your golf projects in 2021 and beyond. R I CHARD HUMPHREYS
