1 WELCOME RICHARD HUMPHREYS We might have expected the post-Covid boom in golf to be quickly followed by a retraction. But six years on, momentum is sustained and the outlook for golf, and the businesses that rely on its popularity, continues to be good. Developers and clubs – public and private – are not resting on their laurels; rather working to maximise the value of existing assets, improving environmental performance and responding to the requirements of the next generation of golfers. These priorities are shaping the way new projects are planned and delivered. Over the following pages, we profile several examples of great work completed at golf facilities in recent months and demonstrate how thoughtful design, technical expertise and strong collaboration can deliver success. Identifying the right partners – architects, contractors, irrigation specialists, turf consultants and other suppliers – is of fundamental importance to achieve the desired results in an acceptable timeframe. The supplier directory section of GCA Green Pages – available in print and online at www.golfcoursearchitecture.net/greenpages – is designed to support that process. You’ll find businesses listed by their area of expertise, followed by – in alphabetical order – their full company profiles and contact details. We hope you find this guide an informative and valuable resource, and wish you every success with your golf projects in 2026. Sustaining momentum

RAIN BIRD Reinvigorating a Sandbelt great Australia’s Commonwealth Golf Club turned to Rain Bird for a new irrigation system that delivers high-quality turf for its renovated golf course. With insights and ideas from Tom Doak, designer Brian Slawnik of Renaissance Golf Design spent two years reinvigorating one of the great old Sandbelt golf courses near Melbourne, Australia. New course manager Adam Lamb arrived just in time to oversee the project and found Rain Bird had been selected to provide a state-of-the-art IC System and rotors to achieve better water management and greater sustainability, including as much as 33 per cent in overall water savings. General manager Peter Paccagnan said: “The aim was to have a reliable and highly capable system. Rain Bird’s reputation for quality products, coupled with strong sales support, gave us confidence that we would have a system that would enable us to consistently deliver highquality turf in an efficient way.” Lamb added: “The relationship and trust developed over time was so important. It was Rain Bird’s willingness to help us look at new options as well as how much their system has improved in the last 15 years or so.” Lamb also cites the importance of the quality and design of Rain Bird rotors. The total of 1,200 rotors makes a huge difference to efforts to create a 8 Photo: Commonwealth Golf Club

9 The new irrigation system delivers high quality turf in an efficient and sustainable way Photo: Commonwealth Golf Club sustainable golf course. The combination comprises 900 and 952 Series rotors in areas where spacing can be bigger, 702 and 752 rotors in smaller areas and the 8000 Series on banks and tighter areas. “The old system was inefficient, and we knew we could reduce watering by a third with a new Rain Bird system,” said Lamb. “We used a hard-edge irrigation design with half heads on fairway edges, and IC is trustworthy – if there’s ever a problem, it lets you identify and rectify.” The new Rain Bird IC System allows Lamb and his team to water precisely. CirrusPRO golf software is state-of-the-art in terms of diagnostic capabilities, expandability, programming options and real-time communication. Rain Bird support, with easy-touse training materials including video tutorials for training new staff, has proved very useful. “Most clubs in the area are going with the hardedge design to focus on edges, up the middle and have less waste on the rough,” said Lamb. “It’s been quite warm in Melbourne, and we haven’t had a lot of rain. Our water supply would have been gone in previous years. But thanks to the new system, we’re effectively using a third less water. It allows the team to distribute water more accurately, particularly along fairway lines where water had previously been over sprayed into the rough. The primary value comes from not wasting water. Our rough is going to change a lot. That’s not a bad thing in the Sandbelt, where an exposed sand rough is desirable. It’s unique.” Water is particularly precious in the Sandbelt, so Commonwealth’s sustainability efforts immediately paid dividends. Members have already seen better conditions, particularly on the fairways. “The rough is now quite rough but we’re able to direct more water to fairways and create better conditions but still use less water overall,” said Lamb. Asked what lessons he learned from the process, Lamb said: “Be patient until fairway lines and heights are finalised by your architect. Patience is always important.” “Rain Bird is really the market leader with irrigation,” added Lamb. “Hardware and software are everything we need them to be. And all the recent upgrades make life for me and other superintendents so much easier and hassle-free. It’s just such an important tool. I often show people around and tell them, ‘This is the most important office in the golf club, and this is the most important computer’. That’s how much I value our new system.” For more on Rain Bird, turn to page 54 or visit www.rainbird.com/golf

TORO Photo: Toro Pont Royal is upgrading its irrigation system and installing a suite of Toro’s products Golf International de Pont Royal is unique among French golfing destinations. It has the only course designed by Seve Ballesteros in the country, opened in 1992 and celebrated for its challenging layout and exceptional beauty. It was named by the World Golf Awards as the ‘Best Golf Course in France’ from 2021 to 2024, a distinction that highlights its commitment to excellence. The club is undertaking a full change-out of its irrigation system, featuring the implementation of Toro’s Lynx irrigation management platform, along with smart satellites. This cutting-edge solution is designed to optimise water usage, streamline operations and deliver unmatched precision in irrigation management. The decision is driven by a clear objective: to modernise the irrigation infrastructure and ensure sustainable performance for years to come. This is not a simple upgrade – it requires replacing all existing satellites and adding an extra unit to meet the course’s specific requirements. The project also involves significant groundwork, including the construction Golf International de Pont Royal in the Provence region of France has turned to Toro for an irrigation system modernisation with a focus on sustainability. 12 MJ ABBOTT The year for MJ Abbott started and ended at Sunningdale Golf Club in Berkshire, England. In January 2025, we completed a pilot project of five additional tees on the Old course as part of Gil Hanse’s work and then returned in November for the first phase of the New course restoration project. We have also worked at La Moye Golf Club on the island of Jersey with Tom Mackenzie of Mackenzie & Ebert, completing two new holes on elevated land between the existing course and the sea, with incredible views. This phase also included rebuilding the tenth fairway, which previously didn’t drain well. We stripped the top 600 millimetres of heavy clay material, stockpiled it, excavated loads of sand and then swapped the material around. It was a massive undertaking and a really important project. On the island of Guernsey, we have completed a third season of work with Robin Hiseman of European Golf Design at La Grande Mare Golf Club. This has included the first and eighteenth holes that now play in front of the new country club, A year of building around the British Isles Steve Briggs, director at MJ Abbott, provides a round-up of the contractor’s work in 2025. 13 which is currently under construction. The new teaching academy, short-game practice area and driving range opened for play in September 2025. In Scotland, we began working on both the 19-hole golf course designed by DJ Russell of RAW Golf Design and the 10-hole short course by Phil Smith Design for Alvarez & Marzel in the St Andrews area. The project has taken up much of our works programme for 2025 and will do so again in 2026. The project will complement the client’s existing facilities at Hogs Head Golf Club in Waterville, Ireland, and will have fully sandcapped playing surfaces and elevated views of St Andrews. In the years 2000 to 2003, MJ Abbott had the pleasure of building The Grove in Hertfordshire, northwest of London, with architect Kyle Phillips. Having built the golf course, driving range, academy, football pitch, walled garden and landscape gardens, MJ Abbott have revisited The Grove on many occasions over the past 25 years to carry out various projects, including a hybrid pitch for the NFL, a sand volleyball court, plus beach and croquet lawns. We only did very minor changes to the golf course. In 2025, Kyle Phillips redesigned the driving range outfield and short-game academy to complement the new performance centre, The Kingdom at The Grove by TaylorMade Golf. Work included building a three-tier grass tee around the new building, synthetic winter tees, synthetic target greens ranging in distances up to 150 metres and an extended driving range that is 300 metres long. The short-game academy green features a 700-square-metre green with 2,000 square metres of purpose-built playing areas and five practice bunkers. Other projects that we have completed, or progressed with, include a bunker renovation with William Swan at Rowlands Castle GC in Hampshire, England; a new short-game academy designed by Bruce Weller for High Post GC in Salisbury; and a successful bunker reconstruction at Golf at Goodwood with Ross McMurray of European Golf Design. MUSCO SPORTS LIGHTING When leadership at Golf Saudi decided to stage the LIV Riyadh 2025 tournament at night for the first time ever, they needed a lighting system at Riyadh Golf Club that could overcome several key challenges. Among the biggest was the tight window of just four months for the new lighting system to be designed, manufactured, shipped and installed. Additionally, the course lighting needed to meet broadcast requirements, increase light levels in the tee areas and greens, and provide enough illumination for players and spectators to follow the ball’s entire aerial path. For its lighting provider, Golf Saudi chose to partner with industry leader Musco Sports Lighting, based on the company’s decades of experience in sports lighting, its work on other high-profile projects in the region, and the success of its many other golf course lighting projects around the world. Another key factor was Musco’s complete, turnkey Total Light Control (TLC) for LED system that offered a streamlined installation process. “We loved the vision they had for LIV Riyadh 2025, and going into this project we knew the stakes were high,” said Chris Limpach, Musco’s director of Europe, Middle East and Africa business. “We also knew there were going to be a lot of moving parts. From the tight deadline, to coordinating with other contractors working in different areas like irrigation and landscaping, to Setting the stage Golf Saudi partnered with Musco on an LED lighting system to host its first-ever night tournament – LIV Riyadh 2025. 15 Musco’s light control and fixture visoring technology illuminates tees, fairways and greens with precision Photo: Courtesy of LIV Golf getting our work done without interrupting dayto-day operations at the course.” One of the key considerations for the project was delivering enough light to the course to achieve television broadcast requirements, while at the same time trying to limit the number of poles and fixtures being installed to maintain the beauty of the course during daylight hours. Musco custom-designed the new LED system at Riyadh, using poles of varying heights and 650 of its TLC for LED fixtures, as well as an array of its BallTracker fixtures, which provide upward illumination to allow players and fans to track the entire path of the golf ball in flight. “There are a lot of things that come into play with a project like this,” said Musa Jibat, Musco’s general manager of the Gulf region. “Golf courses cover a pretty vast outdoor area, and the landscape itself isn’t consistent from hole to hole. Designing a system that will provide clean, uniform lighting throughout, while also minimising glare that could affect players, isn’t easy.” Another unique aspect of the system at Riyadh is the placement of low-level BallTracker fixtures mounted to two-metre poles on the inside of dogleg holes, providing light for professional golfers whose shots typically cut corners instead of following the natural course layout. The new lighting system was installed and operational in time for the LIV Riyadh event in February 2025 and was met with rave reviews. With the new LED lighting in place, light levels on the professional tees and greens have increased to 400 lux, broadcasting requirements have been achieved, and players and spectators can follow the entire path of the ball without experiencing glare from the fixtures. GEOGOLF GeoGolf’s mission is to equip golf course architects with precise, high-resolution terrain intelligence that strengthens design decisions from the first sketch. For more than two decades, the company has provided architects with 3D topographic mapping, terrain modelling and accurate earthwork calculations – delivered consistently and in formats that integrate seamlessly into CAD, GIS and visualisation workflows. As mapping technologies advance and renovation cycles accelerate, GeoGolf’s role as a trusted technical partner has only expanded. Its work at Kasumigaseki Country Club in Japan, which hosted golf during the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, was a demonstration of GeoGolf’s commitment to precise deliverables. GeoGolf served as GPS and robotic mapping project lead for Fazio Design, delivering full topographic data, construction documentation and hundreds of photographs that allowed the architects to work remotely from the US. “It was imperative for the architects to have the data and be able to do most of the design without having to travel to the course,” says GeoGolf’s CEO Jeff Szukalski. “Our mapping accuracy and extensive photography made long stays unnecessary.” GeoGolf’s value is equally clear in domestic projects, including its recent work at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in California. Its aerial photography, 3D terrain modelling and GIS-based asset mapping supported early design refinement, drainage analysis, committee communication and construction planning. After the renovation, the baseline data assisted signage, yardage programmes, irrigation as-builts and long-term maintenance. Across GeoGolf’s international portfolio – including historic sites such as St Andrews – architects rely on GeoGolf’s deliverables to ensure continuity from concept through construction and into ongoing course management. At the core of every project is a detailed asset inventory map, the equivalent of architectural plans for a multi-million-dollar renovation. By capturing every feature – topography, bunkers, irrigation, drainage and more – this foundational map provides the defensible data needed for accurate budgeting, design decisions and long-term planning. Designer Ricky Nix of Ron Garl Golf Design, who has worked with GeoGolf on projects before, Data for design Mapping company GeoGolf helps architects and clubs by providing precise maps and models that can inform renovation projects. 17 GeoGolf CEO Jeff Szukalski (centre) with the team at Kasumigaseki Country Club in Japan Photo: GeoGolf said: “GeoGolf’s services have saved us time and money. Accurate topography and asset mapping are imperative, and it continues to provide signage, yardage tags and marketing packages after renovation. It’s a no-brainer.” As more construction firms operate their own GPS systems, Szukalski says many clubs face a growing challenge: the same contractor moving the dirt is often the one measuring it. Without independent verification, earthwork quantities, area calculations and as-built mapping can become incomplete or biased – undermining both budget accuracy and design intent. GeoGolf provides third-party verification starting at $1,900, routinely saving clubs tens of thousands of dollars by confirming quantities and validating invoices. Independent mapping protects owners, supports architects and reinforces transparency and accountability throughout construction. For 27 years, GeoGolf has led the field in golfcourse mapping, supporting programmes like PGA Tour’s ShotLink and TourCast. The company continually evaluates and adopts new technologies as the industry evolves – always with an eye towards providing the best solutions for every budget. A recent survey for an exclusive Florida club highlights this approach. Using Network RTK GPS, robotic total stations and a high-end unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platform, GeoGolf produced a comparative 3D model supported by more than 400 aerial photos. The resulting digital elevation model and two-centimetre-resolution orthophotography confirmed UAV photogrammetry as a powerful complement to ground surveys, while additional infrared and normalised difference vegetation index imagery revealed valuable insights into turf health and agronomic conditions. From St Andrews to Monterey Peninsula to Kasumigaseki, GeoGolf’s goal is constant: to give architects the clearest possible understanding of terrain and to provide the technical foundation that allows exceptional golf design to happen. “GeoGolf’s mapping work remains valuable to our club even years after the completion of the project,” said Masaru Shimizu, general affairs director at Kasumigaseki. “Their topographic mapping was precise and instrumental to our renovation’s success.” For more on GeoGolf, turn to page 40, or visit www.geogolfmap.com

Photo: Paul Macro 18 EGM GOLF When member feedback revealed a desire for improved practice facilities, Bury St Edmunds Golf Club in Suffolk, England, turned to long-term partner EGM Golf. The solution was not only a modern, efficient driving range, but a smart, data-driven system designed to raise member engagement, cut costs and future-proof operations. Bury St Edmunds has long been a club shaped by its members and community. Surveys highlighted issues with the existing practice area: limited distance and too few bays. Recognising the opportunity, the club committed to building a modern, high quality driving range for people to use. In late 2024, general manager Mike Verhelst brought together key suppliers to shape the vision. Among them was EGM Golf’s Tony Nelli, known across the industry for his practical insight into range operations. Nelli advised on bay layouts, member flow, operational efficiency and equipment selection, with EGM producing visual plans to support board approvals. Through ongoing collaboration, technical specifications were refined to ensure equipment, software and day-to-day operations worked together seamlessly. At the heart of the development is EGM Range Manager, a cloud-based operational platform that goes far beyond ball dispensing. It offers dynamic pricing for member categories, multiple payment and access options, automated workflows to reduce staff hours, and real-time insights into usage and revenue. For club managers, it supports data-driven decisions and integrates smoothly A future-ready practice facility A new driving range delivered by EGM Golf helps Bury St Edmunds improve member satisfaction, modernise operations and create a strong foundation for growth.

19 The new driving range at Bury St Edmunds has 14 heated bays featuring Trackman technology. Inset, one of the visual plans EGM created for the board’s approval with existing systems. For staff, it simplifies daily operation and reduces manual workload. By spring 2025, the club had placed orders for a full suite of EGM equipment. The centenary driving range opened with 14 heated and covered bays featuring Trackman technology and integrated food and beverage options. The design provides clear operational advantages: improved ball circulation, streamlined workflows, durable components and a premium golf experience. Building on the success of the main range, the club developed a dedicated members-only practice area. EGM installed a standalone dispenser with Range Manager software and a ball elevator to simplify refilling. To further support operational efficiency, the club added an EGM robot ball collector with capacity for approximately 1,600 balls per cycle, significantly reducing manual collection and ensuring consistent ball flow. “Transforming our practice facilities was never just about new bays, it was about building a future-ready facility that works for greenkeepers and golfers alike,” said Verhelst. “EGM Golf has helped us engage a level of control, insight and flexibility we’ve never had before. We’re not just dispensing balls, we’re running a business that’s sustainable and efficient.” The journey of Bury St Edmunds demonstrates how a traditional club can embrace technology without losing its heritage. With EGM Golf, the club has improved member satisfaction, modernised operations and created a strong foundation for future growth. For greenkeepers, club managers and members alike, the result is a smarter, better run range: efficient to operate, appealing to players and ready for the future. 20 TRUE CLUB SOLUTIONS For the Agronomic & Renovation Services team at True Club Solutions (TCS) – golf club operator Troon’s advisory division – 2025 has been a transformative year. TCS broadened its offering beyond golf course construction-oriented services, to now also include agronomy, maintenance support and golf course design. A busy 2025 gave the company the opportunity to successfully complete projects in all these areas. TCS began the year in Quincy, Illinois, wrapping up a bunker renovation for a private club. The project combined the design services of architect Art Schaupeter, ASGCA, with the construction expertise of the TCS crew. The renovation included new bunkers, the renovation of many existing hazards and the removal of some unnecessary bunkers. The new bunkers have a more visible, natural look that adds substantially to the aesthetic presentation of the holes. The bentgrass fairways were also expanded in select areas to add strategic angles of play. Closer to TCS’s home office in Scottsdale, Arizona, the company completed two greens projects – the first being at the Boulders Resort in Carefree. TCS restored greens on the North course to their original sizes and resurfaced all with TifEagle. Overlapping the Boulders project, TCS had a second crew work on a similar green resurfacing project at Starr Pass in Tucson. By far the largest and most time-consuming project of the year was the installation of a new A year of transition TCS has completed several projects in 2025 and expanded its services to include agronomy, maintenance support and golf course design. 21 Bella Ridge in Colorado is a new course designed by Art Schaupeter, vice president at TCS irrigation system at Tustin Ranch in California. Installation of the 2,200-head system began in late March and was wrapped up in October. The club was able to keep 16 holes open at all times as TCS worked through the summer under the guidance of irrigation designer Kevin Plageman. Later in the summer, TCS took on maintenanceassistance projects at a pair of top Arizona private clubs. At Whisper Rock, a crew worked with the superintendent on desert area de-vegetation and clean-up to open lines of play and sightlines in preparation for the high season of golf. Meanwhile, over at Paradise Valley in Arizona, a TCS crew worked with the club’s maintenance staff to strip out turf and convert it to desert areas with substantial desert planting and drip irrigation installed. On the agronomic services front, TCS completed fraze mowing work at the Arizona Athletic Grounds as the facility prepares its soccer fields for hosting qualifying games for the World Cup. Additional services performed by the Agronomic Solutions division of TCS included fairway aerification at the Boulders, shockwave and root pruning at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Arizona, and similar services at a number of other courses. Schaupeter, vice president of TCS, contributed design services on a variety of projects including the bunker renovation at Quincy CC, a one-hole remodel and reconstruction at St. Joseph CC in Missouri and a couple of masterplanning services for clubs that are lining up renovation projects. Bella Ridge Golf Club, Schaupeter’s latest new 18-hole design, also had a preview opening in October 2025, with a grand opening scheduled for summer 2026. It was a busy and successful year for TCS as the company pivoted to a wider range of services. The priority for TCS, as the 2026 construction season starts to approach, is to continue with the foundation of well-executed projects that was established in 2025. 33 Better Billy Bunker PO Box 93 Hermitage Tennessee TN 37076 USA Contact: Todd Jenkins Tel: +1 615 847 8877 bbb.todd@live.com www.betterbillybunker.com The Better Billy Bunker method is the best bunker construction method in the world. This method improves the original Billy Bunker specification by eliminating geotextile liners. A two-inch lay of local pea gravel is treated with our polymer designed specifically for use in bunkers. This layer of gravel provides maximum drainage and allows water to flow to the drain tile faster than any other construction method. The method drains over 1,500 inches of water per hour, greatly reduces washouts – even on steep bunker faces, eliminates silt contamination, has a 10-year guarantee, creates playable bunkers whatever the weather and is not only affordable, but contributes to huge maintenance savings. “Let us show you why hundreds of golf courses worldwide have made the switch to Better Billy Bunker,” says Todd Jenkins of Better Billy Bunker. “Whether you are preparing for a major championship, or your club championship, we are committed to providing the most playable and maintenance friendly bunkers possible! Our clients will tell you – Better Billy Bunker works.” Bimini Bethel Farms 8780 NW Bethel Farms Road Arcadia Florida FL 34266 USA Contact: Mark Hajduk Tel: +1 863 494 3057 mhajduk@bethelfarms.com www.biminibermuda.com Bimini bermudagrass is perfect for the demands of championship golf, delivering the dense, resilient playing surfaces superintendents rely on.
