Agrostis has been advising golf courses and all other forms of outdoor sports facilities on their design, construction and maintenance since 2005. Business owner Dr Tim Lodge is a specialist in soil and rootzone performance appraisal and design with a particular interest in sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) and environmental enhancement. The understanding of indigenous soil systems, climate and natural habitat types in a sporting context is central to Agrostis’ work. With Agrostis you can expect a more technical and scientific interpretation of your project and the company works alongside architects, ecologists and golfers in this capacity. Agrostis is an active member of SAPCA (Sport and Play Construction Association) and works with them most particularly on natural turf/soil-based system development. Lodge is a registered expert witness and a founder member and treasurer of RIPTA (Register of Independent Professional Turfgrass Agronomists). His research PhD thesis, entitled The Construction, Irrigation and Fertiliser Nutrition of Golf Greens, led to the award of his doctorate by the University of Leeds in 1994.
