Green renovations to take place at Mid South Club
A greens renovation project is to take place on the golf course at Mid South Club near Pinehurst, North Carolina.
One of four facilities comprising the Talamore Golf Resort, the greens at Mid South Club will be converted to Champion bermudagrass. The conversion will be carried out using the ‘no till’ method, which was pioneered by Texas-based Champion Turf Farms.
The Mid South course was originally designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, and was built in 1993.
The upcoming project will be led by Jeffrey Stein and Carlos Perez from Shapemasters – a golf construction firm based in Southport, North Carolina. Shapemasters worked at the main Talamore Golf Resort in Pinehurst on a similar project last summer.
“We are excited to be working for the Talamore organisation again this summer,” said Jeffrey Stein. “The Mid South course is one of Arnie's best ever and will be greatly enhanced with new Champion greens. Green sizes will increase by 20 per cent to as much as 40 per cent and will change the way the course feels and plays – all for the better.”
As well as the greens conversion work, a number of new forward tees will be added to selected holes.
