Happy holidays from us all at Golf Course Architecture!

As we sign off on another year, the team at Golf Course Architecture would like to wish all our readers a happy and safe holiday period, and all the best for 2022.

If you have a bit of free time over the festive period, why not take a look at some of our highlights from 2021?

Our quarterly magazine cover stars this year were: the East course at PGA Frisco in Texas, designed by Gil Hanse; the 14-hole short course by Bill Coore at Barnbougle Golf Links in Australia; the newly restored South course at Oakland Hills in Michigan; and the new St Patrick’s Links course at Rosapenna, Ireland, designed by Tom Doak.

We took a deep dive into some important topics in golf design, including: the lack of women in golf course design; whether a revival of municipal golf is on the cards; the pandemic-fuelled golf boom; and the golf industry’s response to the sand crisis.

And while we’ve not managed to travel quite as much as usual, we were still able to bring you some fascinating On Site reports, including from Congressional CC in Maryland, Chart Hills in England, Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey, and Marco Simone Golf and Country Club near Rome, Italy.

There’s plenty more on our website too, including the first two instalments from our new ‘My Top Ten’ series, featuring Danish golf course architect Philip Spogárd, and Jeff Mingay from Canada.

We look forward to teeing off the new year with our January 2022 issue, which will include GCA Green Pages, our annual directory of businesses working in golf design. Subscribe to receive your copy.

Thank you for reading and supporting Golf Course Architecture in 2021. Here’s to a great 2022!
