New putting course at Silvies Valley Ranch set to open in spring 2022

Construction of a new 18-hole putting course at Silvies Valley Ranch in Oregon is now complete.

The design, named ‘Claire’s course’ after Claire Owens, the first woman to play golf at SIlvies Valley, has been created by Dan Hixson, who also laid out the resort’s reversible 18-hole course and two short courses.

The putting course is located along one side of a lake that fronts the resort’s lodge and log cabins, and is contoured with plateau, valley and shelf areas.

Its eighteen holes measure a total of 720 feet. Golfers and their guests can play the putting course for free.

“Silvies Valley Ranch is known for its commitment to sustainability and letting the natural beauty and unique terrain of the Oregon frontier serve as the blueprint for each new development on the property,” said Hixson, when construction began in February 2021. “I knew that the design for this special putting course would have to measure up to that Silvies Valley standard, which is something that players from all over have come to expect here at the ranch.”

Claire’s course will officially open in spring 2022.
