RTJ II selected to renovate Corica Park’s North course
The North course at Corica Park in California will undergo a renovation by Robert Trent Jones II.
The North was originally designed by William P. Bell in 1927, with Bell’s son, William Francis Bell Jr laying out the South course in 1957. The South was completely renovated by Rees Jones in 2018, offering a sandbelt-style experience for California golfers.
A renovation of the North has been in the works for a while, with Marc Logan, an Australian agronomist and a former stakeholder in Greenway Golf, completing a project on the front nine, with golf writer and historian Ron Whitten serving as a consultant, in 2021. However, due to a legal battle between Logan and Greenway, the long-term lessee, developer and manager of the 333-acre golf complex, work on the back nine came to a halt.
Following the settling of the lawsuit in January 2023, the municipal facility is now moving forward with its North course project. Greenway has selected the RTJ II design firm to renovate the back nine, as well as undertake tweaks to the front nine. Construction will begin in June.

The project is part of long-term overhaul from Greenway with the aim of updating and modernising Corica. “Our mission at Greenway is to harmonise exceptional golf experiences with environmental and social sustainability,” said Avani and Umesh Patel, owners of Greenway. “This wonderful big step validates our long-lasting commitment to Corica Park.”
Greenway expects the North course to reopen in December 2024.
