Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club course to reopen following renovations
The golf course at Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club in Conway, South Carolina, is to reopen next week following renovation work.
Opened in 2001 and originally designed by Clyde Johnston, the course at Shaftesbury Glen has been closed since late December to allow work to take place.
A key focus of the project has been to improve drainage throughout, with a number of waste bunkers created at various points throughout the 6,935-yard layout.
Selected greenside bunkers have been renovated and work has been done to make these less severe for golfers at Shaftesbury Glen.
Shaftesbury director of operations Ryan McCarty told Myrtle Beach Online: “I think the waste bunkers are going to be a huge asset for us getting this place drained and the playability of it. It will be a lot more shot-placement than it ever was. It’s definitely going to be a drastic change.”
The course will reopen on 7 March, with a grand reopening celebration also set to be held in the coming weeks.
