Streamsong to add fourth layout to its portfolio

Streamsong Resort in Florida has appointed Coore & Crenshaw to design a new golf course, which will be the shortest of its four layouts.

The new course, announced at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando on the resort’s tenth anniversary, will join the Red, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2012, the Blue, laid out by Tom Doak in 2014, and the Black, a 2017 design by Gil Hanse.

Holes are expected to range from 70 to nearly 300 yards, with the course designed to be walkable. Early routings include the potential for a six- and 12-hole loop as well as a large putting green. A full set of clubs will not be required and there will be no specified tee markers.

“Comprised of moss draped oaks, lakes and sand-based landforms, the site for the short course is dramatically gifted for golf,” said Coore. “And although smaller in scale and different in character from the Blue, Black and Red courses, we believe the site has the potential to complement the amazing golf experiences that have made Streamsong one of our nation’s most highly acclaimed golf destinations.”

Coore said that the course, which will be built on a 100-acre site with plenty of elevation change, will be within walking distance of The Lodge at Streamsong and will wind through centuries-old native oaks, mine cuts and along the banks of Little Payne Creek.

“We are thrilled to work with Bill and Ben on this new short course, and we are equally thrilled that Streamsong’s unprecedented success in 2021 allows us to fund the project with cash generated by the resort,” said Ben Pratt, Mosaic senior vice president of government and public affairs. “We are confident that this addition to the Streamsong portfolio will significantly enhance the resort’s value.

“As we approach final designs, we are focused on creating fun and accessible golf that will rival its bigger siblings at Streamsong for quality of design and condition.”
