Amateur gets home golf facility

A home practice academy commissioned by amateur golfer Michelle Rhodes in Worcestershire has been successfully installed by Southwest Greens UK with Nicklaus Design’s quality and performance standards. This is the first project that has come out of the collaborative partnership between the synthetic surface producer and golf course designer.

The all-weather practice facility at Rhodes’ home incorporates a 102 sq metre synthetic putting green with contoured fringe and semi-rough surround, a full-size bunker, a pair of short-iron chipping pods and a practice net using Ultimate tee turf, suitable for play both with and without a tee peg.

“To say I am delighted with my new practice facility would be an understatement,” commented Rhodes. “The whole process from initial site survey to adjusting the speed of the installed putting green was carried out with total professionalism and a complete understanding of my requirements by people who obviously know and care about golf.”

Southwest Greens and Nicklaus Design’s partnership agreement covers the design and installation of synthetic golf greens ranging from private home projects of 50 sq m to large commercial golf greens and putting greens comparable to those found on championship standard golf courses.
