Construction of new golf course in Poland set to begin in autumn

Construction of a new golf course in Poznan, Poland, is set to begin in autumn. Black Water Links, designed by Caspar Grauballe, will be the first 18-hole layout in the region.

“The course will take inspiration from classical links and heathland courses, but with a modern twist,” said Grauballe. “It will feature a fun finish, with a par three followed by consecutive par fives offering players a chance to regain a couple of strokes on the last holes.”

The site is open and gently rolling, with little elevation change. The course will have short distances between greens and tees. The clubhouse will be situated at the highest point of the site and will overlook most of the course. “A large putting green will be next to the clubhouse along with a lake and a stream that cascades down to the main lakes,” Grauballe. “Low and wet areas will be turned into lakes with holes using them for strategic play.”

Grauballe has included four sets of tees on each hole, with the total length ranging from 5,250 to almost 6,900 yards.

Polish contractor All Golf Services, led by Waldemar Szadny, will be responsible for construction work. The company has previously worked with Grauballe on a project in Ukraine.

The project will also see the construction of practice facilities, a large driving range, a short game area, a putting green and a reversible short course.

“The extensive practice facilities are intended to introduce new golfers to the sport as well as giving the existing players the best possibilities for practicing,” said Grauballe. “Golf is growing in Poland and this project will help bring more players to the game. I am honoured to be part of it.”
