Construction under way on Chasing Aces project in Louisiana

Construction has started on the new Chasing Aces Golf entertainment venue in Bossier City, Louisiana. The $25 million, 27-acre development spearheaded by local businessmen John Dudley and Randy Rogers will be home to a nine-hole par-three layout, an 18-hole putting course and a multi-level driving range.

The venue is being built next to the Margaritaville Resort Casino, near the city’s riverfront, with the golf facilities designed and to be shaped by Carlton Marshall Golf Design (CMGD). Contractor Boggs & Poole is providing materials, equipment and labour. Former Northwood Country Club pro Mike Mitton will be the director of golf operations at the facility.

The design firm’s principals, experienced shaper Justin Carlton and former Greg Norman design associate Lee Marshall, explain: “The nine-hole par-three course will have synthetic turf installed on each tee box, putting green surface and approaches, then transition into a maintained outer rough grass. The natural mounding separating each hole and providing strategy will be planted with a native flower for aesthetics.” The irrigated and maintained turf area will be just five acres.

“The scarred-out low areas will define the perimeter of the course and also act as drainage basins for watershed,” said Marshall. A lake has been incorporated into the design, on the eighth hole.

The technology-enabled driving range will have 30 bays and five target greens, with food and beverage available.

Synthetic turf will also be used for the putting course. “We have dedicated the past two years to designing and creating specifications specifically for integrating the synthetic turf product into the golf design,” said Carlton.

“The putting course will be 18 individual holes routed throughout the site’s natural terrain, while also creating a putting experience similar to the par-three course’s characteristics,” said Marshall.

Chasing Aces Golf is expected to open in June 2025. The project will create 200 construction jobs before opening and 120 full- and part-time jobs once opened.
