Dye Designs to renovate Colorado’s Flatirons

Dye Designs has been appointed to renovate Flatirons Golf Course in Boulder, Colorado.

Work on the course, which was originally designed by Willie Tucker and is owned and operated by the city of Boulder, will be led by Dye Designs’ senior design associate, Matt McGarey.

The first phase will include remodelling the par-four thirteenth following the death of a large tree that was on the fairway. Three other trees in the right rough will also be removed. Two clover-shaped bunkers flanking the landing area approximately 200 and 270 yards from the middle tee box will be added. Fairway lines will also be altered during the renovation.

“The tree in the fairway heavily dictated strategy; without it, the hole no longer asked any questions of the player and allowed them to simply swing away without consequence,” said McGarey, who will work closely with course general manager Tom Buzbee on the remodel.

“I’m very familiar with the high-quality work and creative thinking that Dye Designs Group brings to the table,” said Buzbee. “Matt is an extremely talented designer, shaper and project manager who’s going to help us further elevate the golf experience at Flatirons.”

Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2025 and is expected to be complete by March.
