EGD’s Dave Sampson to lead renovation of Infinitum’s Hills course

The 45-hole Infinitum resort near Tarragona, Spain, is planning changes to its Hills course, originally designed by Catalan architect Alfonso Vidaor.

Dave Sampson of European Golf Design (EGD) is leading renovation work, which will begin in December 2024. The first nine months will focus on the back nine, during which golfers will play a composite of the front nine and the nine-hole Ruins course. Work will then move onto the front nine, with the entire project expected to be complete by early 2026.

The resort will host an ECCO Tour event in winter 2025, which will be played on the composite course while work continues.

The Hills project follows a bunker renovation on the resort’s Lakes course, originally designed by Greg Norman’s firm, that will be ready for those participating in DP World Tour Qualifying School Final Stage in November.

Infinitum’s Joaquín Mora Bertrán said: “We are very proud of the Hills course, which enjoys some of the finest views and most exciting holes in Catalonia, but as with any golf course we are striving to elevate it even further and ensure that Infinitum continues to be regarded as one of Europe’s must-visit golfing and lifestyle destinations.”
