Exciting year ahead for Carrick

At what is the beginning of an exciting summer of golf, Carrick Golf Designs has announced its plans for the season, as well as some of the projects already well underway.

After almost a year’s worth of technical research, senior designer Steve Vanderploeg has completed his design of an irrigation system for the new Westhill Golf Course in Aurora, Ontario, Canada. The installation will begin next year, with plans, specifications and tender documents having recently been released to bidders.

Other developments as part of the construction at Westhill Golf Course include the re-commencement of the course’s shaping and grading underway thanks to more friendly weather conditions. The course is scheduled to open in 2015 and will feature a pond with Bentofix lining, allowing for a more natural pond-edge look.

Carrick Golf Design’s development at the Friday Harbour Golf Resort on Kempenfelt Bay’s south shore is progressing, with over 400,000 cubic metres of earth shifted. The course is designed to accommodate more than 1.8 million cubic metres of earth from the marina excavation. The shaping of the course will commence in the summer, with drainage and irrigation installation planned for the summer of 2014 and the course scheduled to open in 2015.

The design company’s partnership with Capilano Golf & Country Club in West Vancouver, Canada, also saw a successful end to 2012, with the completion of the re-construction of the tees and green on the sixth hole, as well as expansions to the fifth and ninth greens and the re-construction of the second and fourth tees. Carrick had previously completed the remodelling of the eleventh hole, which included the reconstruction of the tees, green and pond, as well as expansions to eighth and tenth greens.
