Fall 2022 issue of ASGCA’s By Design magazine is out now

The Fall 2022 issue of By Design magazine from the American Society of Golf Course Architects is now available in digital format.

For the main feature, By Design considers the experiences of four clubs that were devastated by storms and flooding, and how they have bounced back. Kyle Phillips, Lester George, Kevin Norby and Gary Browning provide insight into how they have rebuilt courses and have taken the opportunity to improve the playing experience and increase the layout’s resilience to future weather events.

This issue also considers the impact that Frederick Law Olmsted has had on golf course architecture, with comments from ASGCA members speaking at a panel discussion at this year’s U.S. Open in Brookline.

There’s much more too, including news on a climate action pledge signed by golf course architects; insight into the benefits of a regrassing project at Columbia Country Club in Maryland; a discussion about the value of a good partnership between architect and constructor; and a page from the sketchbook of Chad Goetz, ASGCA, for the Nicklaus Design project at Burlington Country Club in New Jersey.

By Design is free of charge. To subscribe, visit the By Design page of the ASGCA website, where you can also review the entire back catalogue.
