Five new holes created at Indian Trails Golf Course

Golf course architect Chris Wilcynzski has completed a project which has seen the creation of five new holes at Indian Trails Golf Course in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Wilcynzski has removed the former ninth, seventeenth and eighteenth holes. That land is now home to a new driving range and short game practice area.

Land to the south of the new practice facility has been developed to house the new par-three ninth hole, par-four eighteenth hole and par-four first hole.

A new par-three second hole has also been created, and the splitting of what was previously the par-five sixth hole has also taken place. This hole has now become the new par-three sixth hole and par-four seventh hole.

The third hole has also undergone work, with bunkers and the hole’s green rebuilt.

“While the course has dropped from a par 68 to a par 65 to fit in our new practice greens and driving range, the course’s slope rating has become more challenging, so those who return to play will find new experiences, new holes and bunkers – along with some of the best greens in West Michigan,” said Lance Climie, Indian Trails golf superintendent. “I’m very excited to officially welcome them back during our grand re-opening and all season-long.”

The course will reopen on 10 June when it hosts a charity golf event.
