Harradine launches Emirates’ first dedicated putting course

Design firm Harradine Golf has completed the first specialist putting course in the United Arab Emirates.

Part of the Dubai Creek & Yacht Club, the course uses synthetic turf for both greens and semi-rough areas, and has been designed to provide both fun and challenge to players of all standards, and indeed non-golfers.

According to Peter Harradine, the putting course captures some of the character of Dubai Creek’s main golf course. He added: “Although I do not like artificial turf at all, I must admit that it could be, in certain circumstances, the future for sports fields and golf courses in countries where the supply of irrigation water is a major problem.”

The course can be played at night, as it has been floodlit with 250 LED lights. Alan Mackenzie, the club’s director of golf, said: “The eighteen hole putting course is a fantastic addition to our academy facilities and has been designed to attract all levels of golfers to the club. The course layout reflects the character of our championship course and it provides a challenging yet playable experience suitable for all ages and all levels of golfer.”
