Innisbrook receives NWGA honour

The four golf courses at Innisbrook’s Salamander Golf and Spa Resort have been awarded the Rolling Out the Green Carpet certification by the National Women’s Golf Alliance (NWGA).

The golf facilities at the courses were assessed as part of the certification programme based on the standards and best practices that make the facility appealing and welcoming to women. An NWGA evaluator, as well as three female guests, played an 18-hole round and evaluated the facility on specific areas of importance. These areas were golf course playability, golf course amenities, facility amenities, golf programmes and customer service. A score of over 80 per cent is required in at least three of these areas to achieve the NWGA’s certification.

Of the four courses at the resort near Tampa, Florida, the Innisbrook South course received a four-star status, while the North, Island and Copperhead courses each received a three-star rating.

“Innisbrook is thrilled to receive this honour from the National Women’s Golf Alliance,” said Sheila Johnson, owner of Innisbrook and founder of Salamander Hotels and Resorts, which manages the resort. “This recognition will certainly help our continued efforts to raise the profile of women’s golf, which is a passion of mine and a goal Salamander is committed to achieving.”

The Rolling Out the Green Carpet certification lasts for three years and can be used to advance promotional materials and advertising.

“We salute Innisbrook and Salamander Hotels and Resorts for Rolling Out the Green Carpet for women golfers,” said Debbie Waitkus, a founding partner of NWGA. “They understand the value of the female golfer and are committed to ensuring that their properties deliver an excellent golf experience.”
