Kipp Schulties completes East course renovation at Wycliffe G&CC

Kipp Schulties has completed a renovation of the East course at Wycliffe Golf and Country Club (G&CC) in Wellington, Florida.

“The goal was to create a true championship-calibre course that would position us well as a golf community of choice in Palm Beach County and South Florida,” said Rob Martin, general manager and chief operating officer at Wycliffe G&CC.

This project follows on from Schulties’ renovation of the West course in 2022. “We differentiated the two designs with contrasting bunker styles, landscaping palettes, turfgrasses and trees,” said Martin.

Schulties developed his East course masterplan following focus groups with club members where he gained detailed information into what players and residents wanted.

The back nine was closed in March 2024, with the aim of reopening it earlier to allow for a 27-hole crossover with the West course to minimise disruption to member play during spring and autumn. The front nine, the more logistically challenging of the two, was closed in April 2024.

“The front nine spans over two sides of our community with four holes on the north side and five on the south, and a main road in between which made the accessibility and logistics management quite a challenge,” said Martin.

The course was updated with new irrigation, turfgrass, drainage systems and a bunker liner from Bunker Solution. “We’ve implemented Bunker Solution across both our courses and have observed improved efficiency in maintenance operations, better playability, and more consistent conditions for members,” said Martin. “Given the demands of our climate, having a durable and effective bunker system has proven essential.”

The club also replaced its perimeter infrastructure, including fences, hedges and thermal security cameras. The new perimeter has been designed to work better with the golf course and also allowed Schulties an extra 10 acres to use.

“We gave Kipp a fresh canvas with the clear objective of elevating Wycliffe as a leading golf community in Southeast Florida’s competitive market,” said Martin. “The result speaks for itself, and our members are genuinely thrilled with the transformation.”
