Local firms hired for Trump project

Three Scottish firms have been appointed to undertake the preliminary works on the Trump International Golf Links project.

Following the awarding of planning approval for marram grass planting and preparatory earthworks on October 27, the developers have hired local company Moray Landscapes and a team of ecological clerks of works from EnviroCentre Stonehaven, to undertake the first phase of work.

Donald Trump said: “In addition to the team of leading Scottish consultants working behind the scenes, I am delighted to announce the first of many local contractors who will help deliver this project for the benefit of the region and for Scotland.”

Lena Wilson, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, said: “This is an important milestone and we welcome Trump International’s commitment to contracting local businesses for what is going to be a major international development. This will ensure that the project will have a real impact on local companies and stimulating new jobs and investment for the North East and wider Scottish economy.”

Stabilisation of the sand dunes is to take place using hand-sprigging of marram grass. Beginning hand-sprigging this month will enable the team to take advantage of dormant vegetation this winter. Moray Landscapes director Eddie McQuat said: “Having worked on significant coastal erosion restoration projects throughout the north of Scotland, we are delighted to bring over 30 years experience to this major development.”

Sinclair Agricultural & Recycling Services, based near Ellon, is also currently working at Menie.
