Love Golf Design to upgrade bunkers on Rising Sun course at Mountain Sky Ranch in Montana

Love Golf Design is to lead a bunker upgrade project on the Rising Sun course at Mountain Sky Guest Ranch in Emigrant, Montana.

Love Golf Design will work with course builder Heritage Links to remove 10 bunkers and add 30 on layout, which was designed by Johnny Miller’s firm and opened in 2011. All bunkers will be fitted with the EcoBunker system, which incorporates stacked sod edges using recycled artificial grass to improve drainage. Heritage Links will also install Sandtrapper liners in the basins of the bunkers to accelerate drainage and minimise washouts during inclement weather. The bunkers will then be refilled with the existing sand.

“The bunker renovation is a major investment back into the Rising Sun golf course and emphasises our desire to maintain a world-class golf course for our ranch guests,” said Mike Petersen, general manager and superintendent of Rising Sun. “The new bunkers will enhance the golf experience at Rising Sun, both aesthetically and from a playability standpoint.”

Heritage Links will begin work in mid-March and aims to complete the project later this summer.
