Madrid’s oldest club chooses E-Z-GO

Real Club de la Puerta de Hierra has recently taken delivery of a fleet of 40 electric RXV golf cars from Green Mowers, an E-Z-GO distributor located in Burgos, north Spain.

Pedro Moran is the general manager at the ‘Royal’ club, which was originally built by King Alphonso XIII for his English bride, Princess Victoria. Today the club is a multi-sports and recreational facility with 15,000 members, set in 250 hectares of countryside on the outskirts of Madrid. The golf club features two 18 hole courses and a 9 hole par three course.

“We needed to renew our fleet of golf cars and looked at the options available. Our courses are hilly in places and we need a car that is comfortable in these conditions,” said Moran. “I had a demonstration of the car from Green Mowers and it performed admirably, completing two rounds on a single charge.

“On courses such as ours, safety is important and the automatic braking system, where the car’s brakes are applied on hilly terrain with no input from the golfer, is a superb safety device. These are excellent cars and the members like them very much.”
